This series of oil paintings is fueled by an interest in two sets of opposing forces: life versus death and nature versus technology. A period of extreme loss and medical troubles helped me discover a new meaning in my floral subject matter. I saw the beauty and fragility of life in these flowers due to their delicate quality and short life span.

In order to further explore this subject, I incorporate medical imagery into my work, some of which show my own body. The idea of technology revealing nature despite their inherent conflict is the reason that I also use graphic patterns from machine-printed paper beside my digitally-altered and increasingly abstracted photos of flowers. These conflicting elements are explored through the combination of geometric pattern and organic form that is prevalent in these paintings.
